A story set on the brink of the Second World War. Germany in 1938 is a dangerous place for Jews. Clara and her little brother, Maxi, are leaving behind everything they know and going to England to live with a family they have never met. Will Clara and Maxi adapt to life in an English village, and will they ever see their parents again?

We immensely enjoyed your story involving Clara & Maxi but we felt it ended rather abruptly and wondered if the two Jewish children ever saw their mother ever again and possibly their father who was in Dachau concentration camp. Please reply🙏
A powerful read. The opening on Kristallnacht particularly affected me - the scene painted in my mind by the author’s deftly written prose, was horrific and deeply moving. Seeing the Nazi’s boot, and the little shepherdess statue, the utter helplessness of having your home being invaded and trashed by thugs. Heartbreaking.
